Heidi is an artist and educator. She learned early in life that feelings run deep — sometimes so deep, that the only way to express them is through image or story because normal language fails. She has been translating these feelings into various forms of art ever since.
Finding ways to capture these feelings also paved the way to healing from a dark childhood. During this process, it became important to find ways to shift out of the intense feeling states that often accompany healing from trauma. This required attention to the present moment.
Her love of nature sent her out into the woods in a quest to become present to the beauty in the world. During the darkest times in her healing process, Heidi walked the land with camera in hand, learning to capture the light.
She believes in the healing power of the creative process and how sharing stories, whether visually or verbally, has the power to transform the limitations that are attached to those stories. She believes in it so much, she got a Master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology to understand, practice, and teach how this process can heal a person physically, psychologically, and spiritually.
Heidi lives in the Finger Lakes region of New York with her two cats, snake, about a million trees, and a lot of unseen creatures who make loud noises in the night. You can connect with her through facebook or by filling out the contact form below.
